Artist D. S. Bradford Marks 9/11 Anniversary With Augmented Reality Tribute

Philadelphia artist D. S. Bradford has made headlines recently with his Go Love Universally augmented reality initiative, bringing his interactive experience to the International Space Station. Now, Bradford has brought a simple, yet powerful, AR experience to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.

Based on early reports that stated the Tribute In Light would not take place due to COVID-19, Bradford saw it fitting that some form of tribute should take place. While it was later announced that the memorial event would go on as planned, the artist continued forth with his piece, viewable via the Artivive app.

Because of the all-to-familiar 2020 theme – COVID-19 – Bradford started producing augmented reality art as a way to give people something to enjoy culturally, even though travel restrictions prevented in-person attendance at museums and galleries throughout this period. Bradford’s work has appeared in Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Barcelona, the International Space Station, and Mars (if you can get to it!).

ARPost profiled Bradford’s unprecedented accomplishment:

Go Love Universally is his first space art initiative. The launch of his virtual piece called Future makes him the first-ever artist to create accessible immersive art in space.

Bradford says, “Technology, in combination with creative minds, has brought augmented reality art into the forefront of the cultural experience in our world today. While augmented reality art has existed for some time, it seems to be more widely accepted now more than ever as a real viable medium for expression. From Barcelona to the International Space Station, art can show up in the most unexpected places. It’s a fun, welcome surprise!”

The idea for the art venture was introduced in an interview with Philadelphia Weekly,

“While social distancing, I was able to come up with a way to share positive messages with people using augmented reality and recognizable visual triggers found easily around Philly.

It is a way for a mass amount of people to interact with their surroundings in a safe way that also creates positive feelings through the messages being communicated.”

D. S. Bradford looks forward to more augmented reality art installations in the near future and working with other renowned artists to bring even more AR art into the collective consciousness.

Artist D. S. Bradford looks to the stars as his next (virtual) canvas with his new augmented reality fine art activation, titled, Go Love Universally.

Bradford is the first artist to create accessible virtual artwork on the International Space Station, as well as Mars, with his first piece, aptly named, Future.

This art initiative comes at a time in which much of the world is still under travel restrictions due to COVID-19 and was designed to include everyone around the planet and those orbiting, watching from above. Born out of exploring a way to express and distribute fine art to the public while using consumer technology, Bradford started with using bus stops as fiducial markers in Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, Barcelona, and London.

Bradford initially introduced his augmented art initiative when speaking to Philadelphia Weekly, stating, “While social distancing, I was able to come up with a way to share positive messages with people using augmented reality and recognizable visual triggers found easily around Philly.

“It is a way for a mass amount of people to interact with their surroundings in a safe way that also creates positive feelings through the messages being communicated.”

Within two weeks of launching his Go Love Universally activation, Bradford took his art initiative into space, bringing the art from Philadelphia to Mars. For curious consumers of this activation, all pieces can be viewed at select locations using the Artivive app, a free augmented reality fine art app available for iOS and Android.

Steve Morrison, co-host of Philadelphia morning show Preston & Steve (93.3 WMMR), commented, “Hey, this is pretty cool!  What if the aliens in They Live just wanted to spread positive messages?  Well, David has a potential answer with his project.  Kudos to you, Sir!”

Go Love Universally is an ongoing project, as future collaborations with artists are to be announced.

This time of year, more and more ads are being shown on social networks for the Cameo app. It’s a pretty cool novelty that can bring joy to people, giving them inspiration and encouragement. Some can barely contain their excitement.

Here’s an example:

That’s right. Even I’m on there. I’m cheap, too. Come get a Cameo from me.

Art + Music + Poetry

D.S. Bradford is proud to announce the premiere of a new series of multidimensional works. The series begins with “Heart of the Matter,” a piece depicting the birth of a heartbeat out in the Universe, and great as a standalone piece of original art.

When there is something you have to say, you say it. Sometimes, you have to say things a couple of different ways in order to see the big picture.

Each artwork in the series tells a story in a visual way, with beautiful wall art that contains a QR code on the side of the canvas. When scanned with a smart device, the story comes to life in song and spoken word.

“Heart of the Matter” is available now in the store in limited supply.

See. Hear. Get to the heart of the matter.

SHOOTING UNDERWAY ON EQUINOX BY FIRESIDE STUDIOS’ LATEST COMEDY THRILLER STARRING D. S. BRADFORD

D. S. Bradford, film, Good for the Gander, movie

Equinox By Fireside Studios is proud to announce the development of independent film Good for the Gander, a comedy/ thriller starring and directed by D. S. Bradford. Principle photography has begun for the feature. Watch the trailer:

Good for the Gander is a film about a man tortured relentlessly by geese to the point of madness. David (D. S. Bradford) is a father and working-class man, succumbed to the monotony of an ordinary life. During the course of the day, he is taunted by a sound. It is a goose. A feeling of dread and paranoia sweep over him as the sound grows louder and envelopes his mind to the point of madness.

This is Bradford’s first effort as a filmmaker. His background as a composer sets the tone for Good for the Gander, as Bradford will also compose the score, among many other roles.

Bradford says, “Of course, I know that this seems like a ridiculous premise to develop. It started out as a kind of spur of the moment idea that ballooned into something bigger than me. Sometimes something so simple can become this larger-than-life event. Hitchcock created suspense and dread in The Birds. This isn’t a spoof of that. The goose is a different breed of its own. They possess a certain intelligence. They have a spark in their eyes. They’re aware. Imagine being overrun by the cunning goose? This is their land, after all. It’ll be fun!”

Equinox By Fireside Studios was founded in 2016 by D. S. Bradford, primarily to release music commercially. The company now creates art and media in multiple formats. D. S. Bradford is a music artist, composer, and illustrator with a penchant for graphic design. As a writer, Bradford spends time as a journalist for several publications, specializing in entertainment and pop culture

D. S. Bradford Christmas Dogs of War

Mike Grau’s Christmas Dogs Of War

December 15, 2016 by D.S. Bradford
News

Every year is a chance to do something better. Something that will benefit others and change someone’s life. Every year – for the last two decades or so – my uncle has organized and has spread holiday cheer through music and entertainment, always for the benefit of others.

Mike Grau’s Christmas Dogs Of War is the event that everyone looks forward to each year because it is a chance to make an impact on lives in a way that goes beyond a simple night of fleeting entertainment. The annual event’s purpose is to raise money for a patient, and family, in the local community who is battling with cancer. All of the proceeds from the sale of admissions, t-shirts, artwork, and raffles is collected and hand-delivered to the recipient. The support for this occasion is astounding and growing every year.

Last year, I was in the midst of recording Elemental Evolution and didn’t perform. After having been inspired by the selfless performances, notably my extremely talented family members – and the unforgettable Schnitzel (featured in the poster above) – I made a vow to perform this year. I will also have CDs for sale, with all of those proceeds going to this year’s recipient: Jacqueline Cuddey.

Jacqueline is a 34 year old mother of four who suffers from Neuro-Behcets Disease, a rare auto-immune condition that attacks the entire body and affects her brain. Read her full story in the post below:

Having just turned 34 myself, and as a father, I can’t even begin to imagine what she and her family must be going through. I feel very fortunate to be in a position to be a part of this year’s collective of musicians championing this incredibly brave woman and her beautiful family.

The event will take place at Buddies Tavern in Parlin, NJ on Saturday, December 17th, starting at 7:30PM. Admission is only $20 and all funds will go to Jacqueline and her family.

If you cannot make it to this event, you can still contribute a donation at the Christmas Dogs Of War official website.

The concert will also be streamed on Facebook LIVE.

D.S. BRADFORD CHATS SAGA OF LUCIMIA & ELEMENTAL EVOLUTION

December 6, 2016 by D.S. Bradford

Interview with Rebecca Haslam for Popwrapped. Subjects include composing score for Saga Of Lucimia, producing and releasing “Elemental Evolution,” and the upcoming music video for “A Call To The Stars 2: A Home In The Sky”

PopWrapped: You’ve composed the music for new video game Saga Of Lucimia. What can you tell me about your score for it and the game as a whole? What made you want to get involved?

D.S. Bradford: Saga Of Lucimia is a wonderfully imaginative game based on the four-book series by our creator and executive producer, Tim Anderson. I first heard of the project from my long-time friend, producer Giovanni Martello. As I watched the earliest developments unfold, I thought to myself the one thing I hadn’t really seen — or heard — was music. We started talking about it, and I put together a quick demo, which was well-received and put me in a position to become a part of the team of the talented individuals creating the game itself. Subsequently, I became a co-founder of Stormhaven Studios, along with the other members who helped to shape the title from the very beginning. The story-line is well-constructed, and the scenery from the recent builds have been inspiring a lot of musical interpretation. This is new ground for me as a musician and has allowed for me to become more versatile as an artist. The game hasn’t been released yet, but there is plenty of information and content on YouTube and on our site to absorb. The community built around this game and the anticipation has been both humbling and astounding. It really is quite a spectacular feat for a team of our size, and the talent is incredible. I’m eagerly awaiting the launch and finally seeing everything come together.

December 5, 2016 by D.S. Bradford
News

From AllAccess.com:

David Bradford, known as D. S. Bradford is a very promising musician that just released an EP called Elemental Evolution (Sugo Music Group/Sony).

He is currently in the midst of producing the music video for his next single “A Call To The Stars II: A Home In The Sky”, which is a song about coming together as one people. It is a very real and relevant subject these days and the idea for the video is, while other footage and performance bits are going on, a wide range of different types of people will hold up the lyrics in different shots, in essence letting them speak the song with their presence. His friend and X-Factor contestant Vino Alan and Josh Eppard from Coheed And Cambria have volunteered to be apart of this video.

D. S. Bradford Teases Short Clip From Upcoming Music Video

October 13, 2016 by D.S. Bradford
News

The past few months have been a whirlwind for progressive rock artist and composer D. S. Bradford. With the release of ‘Elemental Evolution‘ in August, Bradford has gained momentum and is using it to garner support for the making of his upcoming music video for “A Call To The Stars II: A Home In The Sky”, a 7-minute epic masterpiece comprised of classic rock-inspired guitar solos, progressive rock undertones, and orchestral elements. The most compelling aspect of the song, and the whole album, is the thought-provoking, masterful lyricism that summarizes the story of ‘Elemental Evolution’.

The project was first reported by music blog Indie Band Guru, which outlined the premise of the project as a collaborative effort between Bradford and numerous volunteers from varied demographics armed with posters of the lyrics, meant to collectively communicate the message of peace and tolerance for each other within the human race. X-Factor finalist Vino Alan and Coheed And Cambria drummer Josh Eppard are among the familiar faces of those who have signed on to join Bradford for the video.
